The port, traditionally was full of alehouses and it was in such a place that captain Burton met a strange being who promised to lead him into the underworld of the fairy people at Calton Hill – a place renowned for its otherworldly activities, witchcraft and fairy banquets. Captain Burton handed over his gold and was led to the hill only for his guide to vanish with the money.
